Melanie really enjoys photography like me – this is her interpretation of her
teacher's project for them about “Being Different” about not being afraid to
stand out.

Pretty neat and imaginative isn't it. All is well here in Florida, I am glued to the Weather Channel watching Katrina do it's damage on the Louisiana gulf coast. I sort of feel a bit guilty that we suffered so little when it came by us – Is that normal?

we lucked out this time – the storm went dead west and so landed at the Miami/Dade and Ft Lauderdale/Broward boundry. So a good 45 miles south of us. We got (and are getting) wind, rain and stuff but nothing serious.

Nils is already asleep (since 8:30pm!) The kids are calm (still watching TV they have no school tomorrow) and the dogs are calm (asleep on their backs, feet up in the air at my feet!)

Nite all 🙂

Apparently it is POURING outside now – It's hard to tell unless you look outside, the Hurricane Panels shut out all light and sound!!!

Now the neighbourhood on the south side of the Canal that is directly behind our back garden has no power …

EEEK – better post this now

Our kids have school today (till 3pm) – lots are early releasing at Noon.

Supposed to hit south of us (Boca Raton area) but we are putting up the shutters anyway (good practice and to see how long it takes since it is the first time we will be doing this with REAL shutters!)

I am off to Jazzercise first though – gotta prepare for the possibility of pop-tart consumption if we lose power !!!

Feeling Green!
CRAP – here we go again!!

Well for one thing we are better off this year in that we have custom made hurricane panels that we can mount and put up in about a hour if we need to – That decision will be made tomorrow around lunchtime.

THANKFUL also that Nils is off duty today, tomorrow, Friday, Saturday AND Sunday as he took a vacation day for Friday because we have our big CROSSWAVES opener event on Saturday night (that may have to be cancelled.)

Right now he is off filling the cars with gas, and the gas cans with gas – Who know exactly where it will hit and how strong it will be by the time it lands. We are supposed to feel affects sometime tomorrow afternoon. The kids still have school for tomorrow.

Will keep you posted
