Each part bit by bit!! This is the bed and headboard I bought for both girls yesterday.

I researched them online and WAS going to get them online, but the shipping was HUGE, added $100's. Then yesterday on an off chance I went into a local store and they HAD them – NO shipping!!!

I bought the 2 beds (they had them in stock) but they only had one headboard, so next week I will go back in and buy the 2 headboards and pick it all up.

Only thing left to get now is the flooring (still undecided between wood (which would be nice and offset the oak wood accents in the beds) and tile) and the paint for the walls – oh and the window treatments.

Both the girls bedding side by side
Step 2 for the 2 little girls room revamp is done – I bought the bedding – FINALLY!  I have been looking and looking for ages, The girls got to pick the colours they liked so I had an idea, then MY only stipulation was that it be the SAME pattern but in the different colours.

Do you know HOW many ones I found that ONE of them liked, but the other hated – or it only came in the colours of one of them – OY !!

So I happened to be in a part of town I am not normally in (north of us) and popped into the big K-mart up there (there isn't one near us anymore) and saw this bedding – ON CLEARANCE no less!!

What was even more perfect was that there was ALSO reversible comforters (ON SALE) that were the EXACT colour combos the sheet sets were – YIPEEE – I was jumping for joy!

Maddie's coloursKenzie's colours So this photo (from the K-mart web site) shows the bedding with the patterened comforter too, which I decided was too much pattern, so imagine the corresponding comforter (the triangle in the middle of the photos I took) on top of the sheets and pillow cases instead!

Next step – pick out the new flooring (I was tile as hardy, Nils wants wood!) and pant (will be off white or a v pale colour since we will be hanging colourful (in their colours) framed art by my sister. (see THIS image as an example)Kenzie's coloursKenzie's colours

I already got the 6×6 square frames too – also on CLEARANCE at Target – 50cents each!!! – I bought them all (10) – they are all burgundy wood now, but will spray paint them the colours they need to be.

Nils Business card
Nils' latest Business Cards arrived today – They are SO cool – designed by me naturally!!

My MIL didn't twig onto what it meant right away, said I should make it more obvious – but it's the subtleness of it that I think is cool.

I also laminated 25 of them, so that Nils can take them out in the water (in his baggies) and hand them out to the surfers who may need repairs done to their boards!!

Is this the face of an angel or what? – Melanie got her new glasses this week and not only do she and I love the glasses she picked out, but it seems that her entire class (male and female) as well as her youth group at church think they are – quote – rockin, bad, sweet, cute, spankin and hot – which in current teen speak are compliments!

Click for larger photoClick for larger photoHere is another (uncropped) photo of her in the glasses and then a lovely one of her in a dress she tried on at Ross when we were 'girl shopping' – Click on any of them to see a larger image

Sometimes I look at this beautiful child and wonder how she can be my daughter. The love overflows!!

DJ wanna-be, that's me

I love volunteering at the Way-FM radio station – I get to play a DJ!

I do have the distinct advantage that my English accent gets me on the air quite a lot. I'm just waiting for them to offer me a job as a DJ !! I do voice overs and public announcement spots for them and of course I am also doing the morning DJ's web site too (donnaandbrant.com)

This photo is of Donna and I, we have become friends over the years – The photo was a set-up, normally *I* am the one that is a foot taller than Donna, my petite 5' friend. But right before the photo was taken she hopped up onto a stool declaring she was fed up of being the one who fit under my armpit !! Which is why she is patting me on the head!

There are more photos here and there will probably be more on the WayFM web site and donnaandbrant.com soon too.

The 2 youngest share a room, they hate it and so………..

The commencement of the construction of the “Berlin Wall” to separate Maddie from Kenzie in their shared bedroom has begun……That is the components have been bought!

I have wanted to buy these white modular cube furniture/shelves from Target since May 2005, but the timing (and price) prevented it. Well this weekend the stuff was all on sale and so I actually saved $50 on all of it (two 3×3 cubes, one 2×4 cubes, one 1×3 cube and two 1×2 cubes) They also have coloured canvas drawers – in lime green, navy blue, red and grey. The girls decided on which colours they wanted. Kenzie wanted Green & Blue and Maddie wanted Red & Blue. (at least I hope so, that is what I bought!!)

These images show what it will look like from both of their sides
