Today the “Rainbow Bridge” welcomed another beloved pet.

This is Snow, she is my Mother-In-Law’s Maltese. I had to take her to be put to sleep today 😦

My MIL was too distraught to do it, My FIL was too distraught to do it, My husband was busy in the Firefighter Olympics, so it fell upon me to do it. Hardest thing I have ever done.

It was the right thing to do, she was in pain, could no longer walk (degenerative joints – long story, don’t want to go into it now, I just want to make a tribute to her) her little body was shutting down.

I had to wait in that room for almost 40 minutes, just me and sweet Snow, with her looking at me like this, a mixture of fear, pain, and love (for me, something she recognized) – it was heart-wrenching. My heart hurts.

I feel like a limp emotional rag 😦

Here is a link to a photo of her as a puppy when she first came into our lives at age 9 weeks

For those that do not know what the “Rainbow Bridge” poem is – you can read it HERE

Money - the Heart of the Matter !

What do you give a couple that has everything they need already?
I’ve got the answer for you!!

I even asked my friend what she wanted, she said, we don’t need anything, but if you want to throw a few bucks in an envelope to help out with expenses that would be great. ….. so I like to please people and give them what they want, but ‘throw it in an envelope’ ?? not ME !!

I hereby present …..
The Ultimate Wedding Gift!
(it’s a labour of love though, took me about 5 hours!)

Since EVERYONE likes money, here’s a super creative way to give them money that totally TOPS just putting $40 in an envelope!

This photo shows an artistic arrangement of the final product, obviously I couldn’t give it to them in this form and did wrap each individually – if you want to see close ups of each bit, from beginning to end and everything that went into the gift with the accompanying letter that explained each part of the gift, then just click here to see it on my personal web site.

My friend called me the NEXT morning (ie ON her honeymoon!) to tell me how COOL and UNIQUE it was and how they LOVED it and LAUGHED their butts off too!

Yesterday’s blog entry shows the happy couple!

OhMyGosh, it’s been *3* weeks since I posted a ‘daily photo’ to my flickr photos and done a blog entry – oops, miss one day, then another and time gets away with you!! My bad – didya even miss me ?? 😉

One of my GOOD friends got married last weekend (hopefully will post what I did for her ‘gift’ tomorrow – it was NEAT and ORIGINAL!) it was a small and simple wedding but lovely!

This is an artsy photo I took of the CD they gave out to us all

It had all the music they played during the entire reception/dances on it – He even SANG the first one to her during their first dance together as husband and wife – How Romantic is THAT!! He’s a singer (used to be a recording County singer as Michael Anthony James now he’s the lead singer in a new band called The Keep” which still has a country feel. I ate a lot of chocolates!!

Well *I* am *NOT moving so there!

At Lion Country Safari today …. Maddie and Kenzie, my 2 youngest had their Girl Scouts (cookie) trip today – I went too and so did my 15yr old daughter Melanie. She nabbed my Canon Rebel XTi and took photos while I drove. She took 265 photos!!

It was a HOT one, the Zebra’s (the 15yr old’s fav animal) made the day!! TOTALLY …. it just stood there and stared at us, as if to say, well I’M NOT MOVING so you’ll have to (I did, backed up slowly and went around)

We all had a FAB time, but the Zebra’s made the day!

Can You Tell ??

…. that my MIL (mother-in-law) has a fake nose?

Can You Tell ??

OhMyGosh, I went with my MIL to Miami today to see Puchi – a Peruvian lady who created this AMAZING prosthetic nose for Joanie (removed due to cancer)

Joanie is my second Mum, I love her SO much – no REALLY!! Someone who actually ADORES their MOTHER-IN-LAW!!

This is Joanie’s 8th nose since her “Joanie’s Journey” began back in March 2004 (disclaimer, if you do go see this web page, some of the photos are GRAPHIC – be warned) and this latest one is by FAR the best one as far as colour match – if you didn’t KNOW she had one, I doubt you would even notice anything.

Puchi is simply amazing, I fell in love with her immediately, she’s my age, she’s a wife, she’s a mother and an she’s an artist and sculpturor – She has done all but the first of Joanie’s prosthetic noses… and they just keep getting better.

Puchi loves art and being creative, but she wanted to do more than ‘just be an artist’ more than just decorate peoples houses with her art and sculptures…. then she discovered her calling, how she could really ‘leave a legacy’ behind her and how to use her amazing artistic talent to ‘change lives’ ….

I so enjoyed talking to her today…. she told me that after the very first time she made a prosthetic nose for a cancer patient (approx 9 yrs ago) she went to her car and cried like a baby for an hour. She had found her leaving a legacy …. the gratitude of the patient at transforming him from a ‘grotesque monster’  to looking normal, giving him the ability to leave the house without embarrassment and continual stares overwhelmed her. She knew she was finally touching lives.

I am going to be doing her web site soon (probably prostheticartspecialist.com) to showcase this lovely woman and her amazing work… to get the word out so that she can touch more lives.
